Spring break is coming up soon.
We have a possible candidate for the art teacher position.
Chin National Day was celebrated last week at the school.
Father Eustace’s 10 year anniversary of his ordination is coming up on March 8th.
Financial and Operational Report:
Finance: Ja-Deen shared that the balance sheet and cash continue to be strong. We have $600,000 from a bequest. January tithing is below budget by $33,000. At the request of finance council, we are doing a deep dive into why tithing might be down - Looking at what is being pledged versus what is being given or seeing if people are tithing less. Overall, we are still in a good place and better than budget by $175,000. This is partially due to saving on salaries. There was no youth minister for several months, we were down a few teaching positions, and we tried to be frugal. Ja-Deen hopes to have a report for us next month with what she has gleaned. Universal school choice has been passed in one of the houses.
Operations: Ja-Deen shared that we are hiring for the bookkeeper position. 3 people will be interviewing.
Ongoing Business - Engagement Committee:
Brendan is tabling this for now because we don’t have a quorum.
Faith Formation Commission:
Maria shared that they met on the 11th. They discussed OCIA and changes to that, building a Catholic starter pack for those interested in learning more about the church, a Lenten bible study and Lenten Mission are coming up. The speakers for the mission have been secured. The theme is “Christ be our Light.”
A First Communion afternoon of reflection will be held soon. They have been discussing ways to welcome new parishioners and how to help them get involved.
Other News: Ben has termed out. It was mentioned having people apply to be on council or possibly nominations.
The next Parish Council meeting is Tuesday, March 18th at 6:30 pm in the Hope Center. (moved to an earlier week due to spring break)
The meeting was closed with prayer.
