ST. BARNABAS SCHOOL NEW FUNDING MODEL

Indiana School Choice Scholarship Expansion

As a stewardship parish, the mission of St. Barnabas has always been to make Catholic School accessible and affordable for our students. With the expansion of the Indiana School Choice Scholarship, over 80% of our students are eligible and are receiving this scholarship. In light of these developments, St. Barnabas is moving to a new funding model, but which still makes our school accessible and affordable for our students. In this new model, our participating parishioner tuition fee will be incrementally increasing over the next few years but will stay below the amount of the Indiana Choice Scholarship. Our parishioner students can take full advantage of their scholarship without having to pay any additional money for tuition.

With this new funding model and increased revenue, the school will be able to recruit and retain our high quality teachers with higher salaries, hire more teachers’ aides in the classrooms, purchase other educational resources, and be able to afford future capital projects, such as a new school roof, which may need replacement in 4-5 years at an estimated cost of about $300,000.
